Hey,
I offer help for Bulimia
I will support you to break free from the binge-purge cycle, restore your dignity, enjoy your eating and feel good about you again.
I have personally recovered from years of bulimia.
- I spent 14 years working with “Eating Disorders QLD” including facilitating their 10 week recovery groups.
- I spent 15 years running my own workshops dedicated to helping people understand why they eat the way they do and what they can do to change it.
- Over the last 2+ decades I have worked with hundreds of people with eating issues and written a book on the topic.

Karla Cameron
How long will it take?
Recovery from Bulimia is an incredibly individual experience.
It depends on a lot of factors including:
- Where you are right now?
- What you are willing to do for yourself?
- What you are willing to “receive” in the way of support?
- How determined you are to have a life free from Bulimia?
From our first session I can teach you the method I have created to connect with the deeper feelings and needs that preceded your binge.
Why work with me?
You will be working directly with me, I only work 1 on 1 with clients and have been doing so since 1999.
It has been my life’s work to show you a way out of your pain and relieve your suffering.
Living with Bulimia is a very isolating and shame filled existence and you don’t have to live like that.
I will walk beside you, supporting you every step of the way while we work together, so you can find your own answers in your own time. That way, you get to own all of your own successes too.
Some words from my clients.
“You have given me the change to discover myself, my gifts, and a better way of thinking, feeling and being – which is the greatest gift you could help someone find. I really enjoy you as a person and a coach/counsellor and your presence really sets me at ease. Thanks for doing what you are doing, it’s so inspiring! And thanks for getting me to a place where I can enjoy a new year and a new me”

“Karla is kind and calm. I came in with thoughts of just listening but felt comfortable sharing very deep feelings about my thoughts right away.”

My Approach
Bulimia is not the problem itself, it is a symptom of the problem. Bulimia is a coping mechanism and a misguided attempt at meeting our needs.
The word “Bulimia” literally means “ox-hunger” or ravenous hunger.
We are hungry for understanding and we crave meaning in our lives while suppressing and denying our true feelings.
Having experienced years of bulimia myself, I know first-hand there is a particular level of shame that exists with bulimia that doesn’t exist with other eating disorders. There is also a stigma that goes with it, common reactions to bulimia are disgust, anger and contempt.
The bottom line in what I do is help people understand their internal experience of shame and make friends with their inner child.
Bulimia
is not the
Problem itself.
it is a symptom
of the problem,
A coping
mechanism.
I’d like to change the culture that exists
The stigma of non-acceptance for a mental health issue that has manifested into an extremely costly physical, emotional and even financial issue, that can have deadly consequences.
The butterfly foundation, Australia’s premiere eating disorder organisation says; of the 1.1 million people in Australia with eating disorders, 12% of those have Bulimia, that equates to approximately 135,000 people.
It is well known that eating disorders, especially bulimia goes under reported and only 1/3 of people with eating disorders receive help.
